Ruth Rebecca Fleming

Ruth Rebecca Carney Fleming 1918 a€" 2012

Oh, heavenly day, let the angels make way. Miss Blue Eyes chose Christmas as her going home day!

She was love, pure love. She was wisdom and light. Grace and kindness were her gifts to this world. And acceptance. No judgment. Not once. Not ever. Gentle her voice, tender her touch, Ruth was a lady.

Ruthie was born on the family farm in Morristown, Indiana, the daughter of E.O. and Grace Buckingham Carney. She attended Stephens College for Women in Columbia, Missouri, where she studied modern dance, a young art form that moved with freedom and vitality, a rhythm she carried within her body and soul all her life. In 1937 she married James Taylor Fleming and they moved to Hollywood, California. In 1956 they moved to Ogden, Utah, and made their home at the foot of the mountains. In Ogden she reared her four children with one simple philosophy and expectation: Love One Another.

She was a lifelong member of the Disciples of Christ Church and an active member of New Beginnings Christian Church of Ogden. At church she extended and received eternal friendship. Through her faithful association with the Christian Women''s Fellowship she opened her pocket book to local and world missions and applied her hand and heart to service.

She guided all in the ways of love. She was what God intended love to look like. She was our Ruthie.

She is survived by her children, Linna Fleming Atmore (R. Frank), Ute Park, New Mexico, Nancy Carter Apolonio (Frank), South Ogden, Utah, Rebecca Fleming, Moab, Utah, Jeff Fleming, Ogden, Utah, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
