Ruth Drew Maccarthy Daley Golden

Ruth Golden, 93, formerly of North Ogden, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. She was born on October 20, 1924 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Charles Arthur Maccarthy and Corey Adeline Coombs. She attended Ogden High School where she made many lifelong friends.
She married James Evan Daley of Savannah, GA, in March 1944 when he was stationed in Ogden as an MP guarding POWs at the Army Depot near the end of WWII. They had one daughter and were later divorced.
She met James Monroe Golden of Hammond, Indiana when he was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. They were married in Ogden, Utah on September 26, 1951. James passed away on September 25, 2001, the day before their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Ruth has always been a stay-at-home wife and mother. She enjoyed movies, reading, working on jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, but most of all loved visiting family and friends. .
Ruth is survived by her children, Janice Puckett (William – deceased), Mary (Corey) Venstra, Kathleen (Bill) Berrett; daughter-in-law, Sherry (Edward – deceased); 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Charles and Edward; 1 grandson, Karl; brothers, Oakley and Delbert Maccarthy; and sister, Arlene Maccarthy Fielding.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
