Ruth Gordon
Our dear mother and grandmother, Ruth Marian Gordon, 86, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born October 19, 1923 in Mammoth, Utah. She was reared in Eureka, Utah where she graduated from Tintic High School. Shortly after her graduation, she met her sweetheart and eternal companion, Robert Farrell Gordon, whom she married on December 13, 1941. That marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on September 5, 1961. They settled in Orem, Utah where their six children were born and reared.
Mom lived a rich, full life of devoted service to family, friends and church. Her greatest joy was creating a beautiful and loving environment for her family. Her other interest included reading, needlework and traveling.
Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings, including Primary teacher, Relief Society president, and compassionate service leader.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother, three brothers, a sister, a daughter-in-law, and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Lavona (Bonnie) Davis, her six children: Sharon (Floyd) Mangum, Jim (Kathleen) Gordon, Ronald (Twilla) Gordon, Janice (Paul) Humphries, Steven (Layne) Gordon, and Kristine (Steven) Layton, and by her 32 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the West Layton LDS Church, 2120 W. Gentile, Layton, Utah. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Orem City Cemetery, 1580 No. 800 E. Orem, Utah at 2 p.m.
