Ruth B. Hicks

Ruth Margaret Burklund Hicks, 83, was reunited with her greatest love on Friday, December 4, 2009.

She was born November 8, 1926 in Bellingham, Washington to Henry C. R. and Florence C. Martin Burklund. She grew up on a farm in Mandan, North Dakota. The family moved to Clearfield when her father began employment at the old Navy base.

In Utah, she met the love of her life and on February 25, 1945, Ruth married Rulon Wells Hicks in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married for 45 years before he preceded her in death on October 3, 2000. After the loss of two children, they adopted Jim and Marty.

She was a member of Our Savior''s Lutheran Church and enjoyed being the historian for many years.

Ruth enjoyed studying and learning about her Swedish heritage. Ruth and Rulon traveled to Sweden to meet relatives. They enjoyed many trips and cruises together.

She enjoyed gardening and her Irises. She was very photogenic and appeared on a magazine cover in her youth.

Ruth is survived by her children, James Lawrence (Sandy) and Martha Ellen (George); five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two children Kenneth and Leland, and a grandson, Jared Allen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church, 5560 South 2300 West, Roy.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
