Ruth M. Higginson LAYTON – Ruth Marie Higginson, 81, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Crestwood Care Center. She was born May 19, 1926 in Ogden, a daughter of David E. and Mildred Burklund Moyes. On December 12, 1950, Ruth married Jack T. Higginson in Elko, Nevada. Jack preceded her in death. She was raised and educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School in 1944. Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ogden. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service following many years of service. Ruth enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and was an accomplished and creative seamstress. The family expresses their thanks to the staff at Crestwood Care Center and Applegate Hospice for their loving care of Ruth. Surviving are one son and four daughters, Bruce (Tamara) Higginson, South Weber; Lynn (Kelly) Jones, Layton; Kay (Art) Veenema, Park City; Sue (Robert) Klimaj, Murray; Ann (Brad) Anthon, Riverdale; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Margaret Morby. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Family will meet friends at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choice in Ruth’s name.
