Ruth Reynolds Hoggan

June 19, 1934 ~ March 14, 2017

Ruth Reynolds Hoggan, 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.  She was born on June 19, 1934 in Circleville, Utah, to Allen Cropper and Katie Edna Frandsen Reynolds.  She grew up in Beaver, Utah, graduated from Beaver High School and she attended college at SUU in Cedar City.

She married Arthur Edmond Hoggan, Jr. on May 5, 1953 in the St. George LDS Temple.  They moved to Denver for a short time before moving to Clearfield where they made their home.

Ruth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ.  She served faithfully in many callings, including Stake Primary President; she was always willing to serve.

She enjoyed Daughters of Utah Pioneers, PTA, and coaching her daughter’s city recreation winning Pink Panther softball team for many years.  She loved cooking, homemaking, family trips and gatherings, memorizing stories and poems, especially for Christmas to her families delight.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Arthur Edmond Hoggan, Jr., Clearfield; sons, Kerry (Barbara) Hoggan, Rowlett, TX and Darin (Melody) Hoggan, Frisco, TX; daughters, Alene (Phil) Evans, Ogden; and Heidi (Jerry) Pope, West Jordan; 14 grandchildren and 26 ½ great-grandchildren; brothers, Allen Clair Reynolds and David Reynolds; and sisters, Lorraine Palmer and Kathleen Pierce.  She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin sons, David and Douglas, and sisters Lenore Plumb and Maurine Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield 10th Ward Chapel, 350 Vine Street.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.   Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
