Ruth Esther Moulton Hufteling

Ruth Esther Moulton Hufteling, 93, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Washington Terrace. She was born on October 12, 1927 in Winner, South Dakota, the daughter of Leonard N. and Esther C. Peterson Moulton. She graduated from Reliance High School in 1945, attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 in Mitchell, South Dakota, attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, and graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing in 1985 from University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah; and in 1986 she became a Certified Occupational Health Nurse.
In 1954, Ruth married Clayton H. Hufteling in Sisseton, South Dakora. A love affair that lasted until his death in 1998.
Ruth worked as a Registered Nurse in several different positions and hospitals in South Dakota and Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also worked for the Job Corps Program in California, Idaho, and Weber Basin Job Corps Center in Ogden, Utah. After graduating form the University of Utah she completed her career as Project Manager of the Occupational Medicine Clinic at Hill Air Force Base for JSA Healthcare Corp. Ruth retired in 1993.
She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities and facilitated an adult Bible Study Class for 13 years. She was also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing since 1985 and Weber County Master Gardner Association and Friends of the Garden. Ruth volunteered with Utah Aids Foundation, Northern Utah HIV/AIDS Coalition and the Ogden Botanical Gardens.
Ruth was a gardener, quilter, poet, loved growing roses, dogs and helping people, but most of all she enjoyed life.
Survived by her daughter, MaryAnn Hufteling of Washington Terrace, UT; three nieces, Nancy Moulton of Denver, CO; Deborah Moulton of St. Louis, MO and Melissa Moulton-Zenk of St. Louis, MO; her canine companion, Benson; and all of those who called her Mom or Grandma or she “adopted” in to her forever family (you know who your are).
Preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; son, Curtis; her parents; sister, Helen; and her brothers, Wilbur N. Moulton and Donald L. Moulton.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, 163 West 4800 South, Washington Terrace, UT.
