Ruth Painter Miles

Ruth Painter Miles of Ogden, Utah died on August 8, 2011 at McKay-Dee Hospital at the age of 91.

Ruth was born May 9, 1920 to John A. Painter and Anna L. Erwin in Ogden, Utah. Ruth attended schools in the Ogden area and graduated from Ogden High School in 1937. Ruth married Lowell G. Miles on July 21, 1947.

Ruth was a homemaker and made an apple pie to die for. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with family, friends and her dog, Ginger. Ruth was active and still self-sufficient at 91 years of age. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles.

Ruth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a member of the Rock Cliff 1st Ward.

Ruth is survived by two children, Laura Lewis, of Ogden, Utah and Melanie (Thomas) Horn of Washington, Utah. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Tommy (Kate) Horn, Benji Horn, and Bob Horn as well as three great-grandchildren, Seth Horn, Graham Horn, and Gavin Horn.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff at McKay-Dee Hospital for their kindness and caring during her stay.

They would also like to thank the staff and her adopted family at the Mountain View Care Center.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Weber County Animal Shelter.
