– On July 19, 2007, Carl Forsgren Peterson, 88, our patriarch and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather passed away in his sleep at the home of his daughter, Sharon.
He was born March 25, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to William Bengt and Celestia Lettie Forsgren Peterson.
On Friday, July 27, 2007, our sweet mother, Ruth Whitney Peterson, 87, joined her beloved husband as she passed away at the home of their daughter, Sharon.
Ruth was born March 10, 1920 in Ogden, a daughter of Harry James Sr. and Edna May Luddington Whitney.
Carl and Ruth met at Ogden High and the high school sweethearts were married March 22, 1941.
Carl served in the Construction Battalion of the Navy in the South Pacific during WWII, receiving the Asiatic Pacific Area 1 Star, Philippine Liberation Area 1 Star and the Victory Ribbon.
After the war, Carl went back to work for Mountain Bell Telephone and retired with 40 years of service. Ruth also worked for Mountain Bell and Dr. Newton’s office as his office manager.
Carl and Ruth enjoyed working in their yard, wood working, square and round dancing and loved sitting on the porch. They built their home and cabin together.
Carl and Ruth are survived by three children, Martin (Mary) Peterson, Sharon Tracy-Lowe and Karen Gilbert; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Private funeral services were held.
