Ruth Halliday Rampton

Ruth Halliday Rampton, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 93.

Ruth was born January 7, 1920 in Salt Lake City to Marguerite Snow Halliday and Vern Lorenzo Halliday. She grew up on Canyon Road in Salt Lake and met her future husband while attending the University of Utah. She and Byron Ray Rampton were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 5, 1940.

Ruth is treasured for her positive attitude, generosity and kindness. She affected so many lives for good and always left people feeling uplifted. Throughout her life she was an avid scholar and studied history, philosophy, languages and art. Ruth traveled to more than forty-two countries and embraced diverse culture and peoples. She volunteered in community service activities such as AFS, adult literacy and as a docent for the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. A woman of many interests, she enjoyed knitting, piano, gardening, gourmet cooking and bridge. She was cherished as an inspirational and creative mother and loving wife.

Ruth is survived by her five daughters, Kathie McMillen, Kristie Rampton, Michele Reynolds, Martha Rampton, Mindy Sneddon, her son, Daniel Ray Rampton, twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her infant daughter, Julie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday, July 1, 2013 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 am prior to the service. Friends are invited to celebrate Ruth''s life on Sunday, June 30 from 6-8 pm at Ruth''s home at 116 Tartarian Circle, Bountiful. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
