Sally Winona “Nona” Cole Butler, age 84, passed away peacefully in her Layton, Utah home on Saturday, November 24, 2018.
She was born in Borger, TX to J.W. Cole and Velma G. Stanford on April 2, 1934. Nona was the oldest of three daughters, her sisters are: Gloria J. Cole Loyd and Paula J. Young Johnston. After living in Texas, Oklahoma, California and Mississippi, she eventually moved to Northern Virginia in 1964. When Nona’s oldest child, Jackie, relocated to Utah in 2015, Nona moved too.
Nona was active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great love for her family, horses and movies. Nona will be remembered as having a generous, kind heart and she was more interested in the welfare of others than her own.
She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Alfred W. Butler. Left to honor Nona, are her four children: Jackie A. Cudd Ahrens (John), Steven M. Cudd (Hope), Matthew D. Cudd, Joe F. Jollie (Cindy), seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at the Roberts Farm Ward, 628 S. Angel Street, Layton, Utah.
Nona will be buried in Quantico National Cemetery with Al on December 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
Services entrusted to Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
