Sally Leanna Gale

January 9, 1944 ~ April 25, 2015

Sally Leanna Gale, beloved wife, mom, grandma, and sister passed away peacefully on April 25, 2015. She was born on January 9, 1944 to Herb Todd and Leola King in Decatur, Texas. She was often heard saying, “I’m an Eighter from Decatur in the county seat of Wise.” At a young age, her parents divorced. She and her brother, Jimmy, became part of a large blended family when Herb remarried. As the eldest daughter, many of the household duties fell to her. She became an excellent cook. Sally was caught up in the Rock ‘n Roll era of the 60’s and loved Elvis.

As a Freshman at Weber College, she was the only student to be awarded a scholarship in drama for two terms. Sally’s aspirations were to major in teaching drama and directing. She was involved in all aspects of acting and producing and was a stage manager. The opportunity to travel and act were happily put on hold when she married the love of her life, Brent Gale, July 1, 1967 in Ogden, Utah. Together they had one son.

Family and friends always looked forward to Christmas parties in the Gale home. They often got together with friends to play games. Sally was especially good at trivia and enjoyed traveling. Their last trip together was an Alaskan Cruise.

Sally was a very dedicated employee with the IRS for 35 years, retiring in 2012. She had a strong work ethic and instilled this in her son.

She absolutely loved and cherished her grandchildren! Brent and Sally enjoyed visiting and surprising them with gifts.

Sally is survived by her husband, Brent Gale; son, James Gale (Jacqui); grandchildren, Braxton, Brianna, and Tyson; step-siblings DeLynn (Alleda) Clark, Larry (Margery) Clark, Gregory (Monika) Clark, Linda (Buck) Freeman, Susan (Lloyd) Malone, Shauna (Wayne) Todd, Penny (Crystal) Bezdek, and Tamara (Cort) Holbrook.

A Graveside service will be held for all family and friends wishing to attend on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden.   Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
