Sally Lynn Weaver, age 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep, March 17, 2018. She was born on September 27, 1936 and raised in West Layton, Utah. While attending Utah State University she met Bill Wood whom she married in the summer of 1955. Two boys were born from this marriage before the couple later divorced. The two remained friends throughout her life. Sally then met Rulon Weaver, the man she was to call “the love of her life.” They were married October 10, 1980. During this marriage of nearly 38 years, she developed a particular love of horses and of gardening that gave additional meaning and joy to her life.
Sally was known for her beauty and charm, and during a year at Utah State University she was voted the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. Also throughout her life she was known for her disciplined work ethic and dedication to family. After college and spending time raising a family she continued her hard-work ethic through employment at Thiokol and Management Training Corporation for 30 years. During her later years she and Rulon were avid cutting-horse enthusiasts. She will be remembered in a variety of ways, but especially for love of daisies and owls, her use of post-up notes, the joy she had for square dancing, an acute attention to detail, an adventurous spirit that included riding horses and an amusement- park ride “Wicked” with her grandchildren while in her seventies, being a gracious hostess, being a dear mother and grandmother, being an aunt to many, being a sister and a friend to all.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband Rulon, special friend Julian Peterson, sister Arlene Thomas, and brother Brent Stevenson. She is survived by her sons Paul Raymond Wood (Patrice) of Fruit Heights; and John Stevenson Wood (Jan) of Salt Lake City; step-son Randy Weaver (Carolyn) of Layton; step-daughter Kristeen Weaver Nalder (Robin) of Roy; brother Sharman Stevenson (Mardyne, deceased) and brother Sterling Stevenson (Marilyn). In addition she was a proud grandparent to six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
