WASHINGTON TERRACE – Paradise glows brighter now with the presence of our mother, Sally Lurena Smith Williams, who entered its gates on November 9, 2012. She spent the last several months of life teaching us her final lessons on endurance, patience and love.
Mom was born on March 24, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to Martin Blaine and Arline Mitchell Smith. She married and divorced Robert Taylor, Gordon Evans, and Dean Johansen. She was the widow of Dallas Williams.
She loved music and was an avid dancer. Sally belonged to the Western Two-Steppers dance team, was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and worked as a cook in the Ogden City School District until she retired. As a single parent, her life revolved around raising her children and she sacrificed much for their sake. Mom thanked her family many times for being by her side as she made her months-long journey home.
Sally leaves behind those she considered her greatest blessings: her children, Deven (Yasman) Taylor, Michelle Taylor (Herman) Erickson, Kory (Lori) Evans, Korleen Evans (Brian) May, and Darrin Johanson; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandra (Charley) Fowers, Sharon Brandewie and Duane (Penny) Smith.
Her parents, grandparents, and one grandchild graduated from mortality before her and are undoubtedly having a joyous reunion.
Our family would like to thank Jared, Nina, and everyone that brought smiles and helping hands while she underwent polishing during the last stages of her life.
