Sallye Clark

Sallye Mae Malloy Clark

Sallye Mae Malloy Clark was welcomed into heaven on November 14, 2013 at the age of 71. She passed away from the effects of heart failure and pneumonia, although she had been afflicted with disabilities from a brain tumor and strokes for 30 years. She was born on July 20, 1942 in Hahn, Missouri, to George Washington and Viola Lorene Rainwater Malloy.

She was reared and educated, both in Patterson and St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from William McKinley High School in St. Louis on January 21, 1961. She married Albert Burl Caldwell, Jr. in 1963. To this union was born a son, also named Albert. They divorced and Sallye came with her baby son to live in Utah near her sister, LoRene, and brother, Bud. On May 2, 1969, Sallye married Ned F. Clark in St. George, UT. Ned brought into this union his three daughters (Jerrie, Debbie, Gail), from his previous marriage. Ned adopted Albert, and a daughter was born to this union (Kristi).

Sallye was employed as a model for Famous and Barr in St. Louis, and for several years with the Bell System as a telephone operator, both in St. Louis and Ogden, UT. She also worked at Hill Air Force Base, B&B Dept. Store in Layton, ZCMI in the Layton Hills Mall, and as a school lunch cook for the Davis School District.

After moving to UT, Sallye took missionary lessons and was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions including Mutual Secretary, Relief Society Beautification Leader, R.S. Home Management Leader, Den Mother in the cub scouts, and her favorite calling as a Primary teacher for many, many years. When she became too disabled to attend church, she wrote spotlights for the Relief Society newsletter and letters of encouragement to ward members.

Sallye loved reading and writing poetry, fabric shops and sewing, quilting and old country items sewn by hand. She was known for her fabric gingerbread houses and making Christmas candy. She also loved making pies, and cooking as a whole. Sallye was very patriotic and the sight of the American flag always brought tears to her eyes. She loved the Utah Mountains and the Salt Lake Temple. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and will be in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her devoted husband Ned, children: Jerrie Clarke, Overton, NV; Debbie Adams, Layton; Gail (Tom) Woolsey, North Ogden; Albert Ned Clark, Sanders, AZ; and Kristi (Darren) Durbano, Clearfield; 18 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings; LoRene Cahoon, Layton; Cari (Alan) Conner, Piedmont, MO: and Mike (Nancy) Stevens, West Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, George Wayne (Bud) Malloy, and a baby granddaughter, Brittany Clark.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Liberty City Cemetery.
