LAYTON a" His journey began on December 13, 1924 he was born to Beatrice and Pete Pacheco. He was raised in Saguache, CO where he had the fondest childhood memories.
He enlisted in the Army at the young age of seventeen to serve our country. He fought in the battle of the bulge in France. He received the Victory Medal, European African Middle Easter Theater Ribbon, 2 Bronze battle stars, good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit badge.
He returned to Montrose, CO to meet the love of his life Mary Alvarado. They were married on September 1, 1950. They moved to Utah where he worked for 32 years as a civilian for Hill Air Force Base. They made their home in Layton, Utah, and raised two daughters: Rita (Richard) Sandoval, and Vicki (Jeff) Motta. He has eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
His journey as a dad and grandfather was one of a role model for hard work and family fun. He loved fishing, bowling and traveling. He bowled a 200 game at the age of 80. Traveled throughout the US as well as taking cruises in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. He provided great advice and direction. Dad''s proudest accomplishments were the ministries he served in for the Catholic Church.
He was a member of Saint Rose of Lima where he served in the Knights of Columbus, Chairman of Sub for Santa, Usher and on various committees.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
He died peacefully Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Davis Hospital. He was plagued with Alzheimers however he remained strong.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 29, 2010 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service at 7 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
