Sam Sanchez, 86, was born in Ensenada, New Mexico to Juan and Placida Sanchez. He married Polly Sanchez (divorced) and had four daughters Linda (Theriault), Sandy Sanchez, Pam Sanchez, Amy (Thurgood). He was blessed with six grandchildren Daniel McKnight, Samantha Sanchez, Jordan, Donnie & Luc Theriault, Taylor Thurgood and three great grandchildren. Also surviving, sisters, Alice (Soloman) Rodriguez, Irene (Arthur) Yanez, Belma Martinez, Pearl (Tommy) Solorio and brother Tony Sanchez. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter Pam Sanchez, and  brothers, Manuel, Alfred, John, Joe, Robert, three sisters, Mabel (Samora), Carmen, and Virgie.

Sam was a devout Catholic and attended St Rose of Lima’s where he served faithfully as a Knight of Columbus, Usher and previously as the ground’s keeper after retirement. Sam was very generous with his time and volunteered throughout the community and was always to help a friend.

Sam served in the Navy throughout the South Pacific and retired as a Sea Bee reservist. He worked at Defense Depot Ogden before retiring.

Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid golfer, bowler and loved playing cards

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on November 12, 2021, at 10:30 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family November 11, 2021, from six to eight  p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. A vigil with rosary will be held 7:00 p.m.
