Samuel R. Christensen
CLEARFIELD a" Samuel R. Christensen, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
He was born March 31, 1918 in Escalante, Utah the son of Lars Christen and Mary Isabell Spencer Christensen.
Samuel served in the Army Air Force during World War II and served at Hill Air Force Base in the Air Force Reserves as a Flight Engineer.
He married Marie Hatch on December 19, 1944 Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on October 18, 1998.
He was a member of the LDS Church, served as a High Priest and Ward Clerk. Sam and Marie served a mission in the Chicago and Washington D.C. Temples.
Samuel liked gardening, deer hunting, fishing especially in Escalante area, tinkering, and watching BYU sports. Samuel could fix anything. In his younger days he was a sheepherder and worked at the CC Camps. He retired from HAFB as a mechanic.
Surviving are his son, Mark Keith Christensen (Gwen), daughters, Ann Rae Christensen, Judi Lee Dellis, Pamela Sue Christensen, Joyce Ann Van Hooser (Kelly), 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Rolin Christensen, Norman Christensen, Larry Christensen and one sister, Shirley Pratt.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie Hatch Christensen, son Greg Richard Christensen, seven brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12, 2010 at 12 noon at Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
