OGDEN a€" Samuel Valentino Hernandez, 71, died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at his home in Ogden.

He was born February 14, 1937 at home in Hotchkiss, Colorado, a son of Victor Estrada and Heralia Martinez Hernandez.

Sam married Dorothy and later divorced. He married Juanita Collette and they were later divorced. He married Connie and they divorced.

He lived in Colorado where he attended school. He also lived in Ohio and the Ogden area.

He served his country with the U.S. Army.

Sam was a member of the Catholic Church.

He was an excellent Barber for many years.

Sam was a board member of the Ogden-Weber Area Community Action Agency and was also involved in community action and the Migrant Council in Colorado. He was a Chaplain for the American Legion. Sam enjoyed helping everyone and loved his grandchildren very much.

Surviving are his daughters, Kathy; Angie Brooks (Chris Stephens) Ogden; four grandchildren, Samantha, John, Nathan and Chance.

Also surviving are one brother, Leonard (Connie) of Ogden; and his sister, Vera of Long Beach, CA.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Clyde, Manuel, Victor, Frank and Gilbert.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park where Military Honors will be accorded.
