Samuel Edward Larsen
October 14, 1963 ~ October 10, 2014
Our beloved Samuel “Sam” Edward Larsen, age 50, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, October 10, 2014. He was born in Ogden on October 14, 1963 to Lila Duncan and Richard Bryce Larsen. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State University for two years.
Sam was gregarious, exuberant, and friendly. As a little boy, he was welcomed into every home on the block and throughout his life has been deeply loved and enjoyed by his family and many faithful friends. Sam loved the children of Stacey McCain, Daxton, and Ashlee, and has loved and nurtured them throughout their lives.
Sam attacked life with vigor and a sense of humor in good times and bad. He was kind, generous, and helpful, assisting many people in many ways without a need of notice or recognition. He liked to work hard and started at age 16 working at a variety of jobs. He worked primarily in automotive part sales, but also enjoyed laying fiber optic cable across the western U.S.
Sam loved outdoor sports, especially fishing and skiing, taking the slopes at high speeds. Recently be began enjoying bird watching. He liked having a bird house and watching for the eggs to hatch, even making a hinged roof so he could peek in to see the progress.
Sam is loved and survived by his mother, Lila; brothers and sisters, Nancy Sloper, Katy Larsen, David (Pam) Larsen, and Bryce (Melinda) Larsen. He has four nephews, Justin (Melissa) Sloper, Ian (Heidi) Sloper, Stephen (Sharice) Larsen, and Matt Larsen; nieces, McCall (Launce) Bennett, Kailey (Jeff) Parker, and Katie Larsen, and two great-nieces, Meghan Sloper and Paisley Bennett.
He belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and although he was not a church goer, he had great faith in prayer and loved his Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
