Samuel R. Sosa “Popo”
OGDEN – Samuel Ray Sosa, peacefully left this earth on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 surrounded by his family.
Sam entered this world on July 8, 1938 in Macifee, Colorado, a son of Fred P. and Frutosa M. Sosa.
On May 23, 1958, Sam married the love of his life, partner and lifelong companion, Dorothy Helen Martinez.
Sam was a lifelong resident of Ogden and educated in the Ogden City Schools.
Sam retired from Chromolox as a shipping foreman after 23 years of service.
Sam enjoyed fishing, camping, antiquing, golfing, boating and spending time with his family. Another of his hobbies included dollar store shopping with his wife. Sam was a great person and was always willing to help out anyone in need. Sam touched many lives of the people he met during his life.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of Ogden; four daughters and two sons, Damone (DeAnn) Sosa, Roy; Denise (Robert) Archuleta, Ogden; Joyce Sosa, Ogden; Lori (Jan) Page, Roy; Annette George (Todd Hoskins), Roy; Randy Sosa, Ogden; Linda Miya (Rich Sowerby), Roy; 13 grandchildren, Anthony Archuleta (Jason Cash), Atlanta, GA; Paul and Ryan Archuleta, Ogden; Keaton and Tanner George, Roy; Sami Page, Roy; Curtis (Jamie), California; Jessica Page, Roy; Lance and Logan Sosa, Roy; Matthew Stone, Roy; and two great-grandchildren, Kylee Page, California; Makayla Stone, Roy.
Sam is also survived by his mother of Ogden; five brothers and two sisters, Fred, Semon, Leo, and Henry Sosa; Nora Hernandez, Carmen Gutierrez and Frank Sosa; two very special friends, Pat “Kahuna” and Kay Day, as well as his faithful dog Chica. Sam is also survived by many nieces, nephews and relatives as well as many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Luncheon to follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Cremation to follow services.
Inurnment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Friends and family will meet at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary at 2:30 p.m.
Sam was a great man and will be dearly missed by his family. We love you Popo!
