Sandee Bateman Miles was born to Percy and Maevon Bateman in Ogden, Utah, on July 23, 1950.
Our mom accomplished many things in her life. She was very active in school serving as a junior high cheerleader and Student body vice president at Clearfield High School. She modeled for ZCMI and even appeared in an issue of Seventeen magazine.
She had a keen mind and loved to learn, Graduating from Weber State University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She graduated Phi Kappa Phi while managing work, family, and religious obligations.
She met the love of her life, Randy Miles, at age six and began dating him nine years later. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 23, 1968. Shortly after their marriage they went to visit her sister in San Diego and decided to stay. They welcomed their first child, Melanie and later moved back to Utah.
Randy and Sandee made their home in Syracuse where they welcomed three more daughters, Maleesa, Laurie, and Alison. They moved to Clearfield in the early 1980’s where they lived until 1998, then returning back to Syracuse. Sandee and Randy loved to run 5K races and travel together. They always loved just being together.
Sandee was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many ward and stake callings. She loved and was beloved as a Young Women’s leader.
Our mom had the gift of gab and made friends easily. She was a natural sales woman and worked as a representative for many companies but excelled as an Avon lady where she earned many awards but more importantly friends. She used her Avon selling as a way to not only make extra money, but as a way to serve and nurture those in her community.
While her kids were growing up, she worked for Clearfield City Recreation for many years, running their Summer recreate in the park program. She loved all those children and the leaders she worked closely with.
Sandee also worked for many years in the schools and took a job helping those with disabilities becoming an Administrative Assistant for the district’s 504 office, later leaving the district offices to work for the Davis County Schools' Nutrition Services in Freeport center. She became an advocate for many of the cooks. She used her own money to pay overdue lunch accounts for several school children. She retired from the Davis School District in 2013.
Out of all of her accomplishments she was most proud of her family. She loved her girls, son-in-laws, grandkids, great grandkids, spending many nights and weekends attending all their sporting activities and her extended family so much, but most of all she loved our dad, Randy who she was married to for over 56 years, who loved and cared for her until the very end.
Sandee was the embodiment of Christ like love. She gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and made everyone feel loved and special. She had countless friends and honorary family members.
Sandee’s lucky number was 23. She was born on the 23rd , married on the 23rd, and became a mother on the 23rd. Her first grandchild was born on 9/14 which equals 23. It was only fitting that she left this mortal existence on November 23, 2024 due to complications of dementia.
Sandee was proceeded in death by her parents Percy and Maevon Bateman, and Sister Barbara (Roy) Reed. She is survived by her husband Randy Miles, daughters Melanie (Randy) Taylor, Maleesa (Ed) Morris, Laurie (Cameron) Rees, and Alison (Nathan) White; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Doug (Doris) Batemen, David Bateman, Debbie (Gordon) Belflower, Daren (Joyce) Bateman, Darlene (Kevin) VanVleet, and Barry Bateman; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Inspiration Home Health and Hospice which made it possible for her to pass at home.
