Sandra Jean Sessions Preece

Sandra Jean (Sessions) Preece, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 31, 2017.

Sandy was born April 16, 1938 to Elsa Lewella (Kelso) and Dell Holt Sessions in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sandra's father passed away when she was only 14 and we can only imagine the sweet daddy-daughter reunion that is taking place now.

She married Richard Kelsey in 1953. Together they had three children but later divorced. On March 23, 1962, she married Thurman Scott Preece whom she loved and served for 52 years. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple May 12, 1964. Later they would be temple workers in both the Denver and Ogden LDS Temples. On weekends they would often be found loading up the camper and heading outdoors. A lifetime highlight was touring the Holy Land together. She greatly mourned Thurm's recent death in 2014.

Sandra worked for 22 years as a procurement clerk at Hill Air Force Base and for 63 years raising her family in Layton, UT.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Wendy Norberg and sons, Steven and Scott Kelsey and one sibling, Michael Sessions. She also leaves behind a stepson, Larry Preece and stepdaughter, Debbie French as well as 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Sandy's affection for her family was simple, pure and tangible. There was nothing but pure love that emanated from her very core. Big dinners with extended family and friends delighted her. We all loved her food, hugs and infectious laughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the LDS Central Ward Chapel, 60 W Gordon Ave in Layton, Utah. A viewing will be held at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road on Monday September 4th from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday from 9-9:45 am at the church.
