Sandra Lee Raun

December 17, 1938 ~ October 4, 2015

Our incredible Sandra left our world on the ultimate adventure Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the age of 76. She was born in Ogden, Utah to parents Edward Dale and Melva Reid Thomas on December 17, 1938.

She married the equally incredible Richard Lee Raun on June 17, 1957 – a true love story. They vacationed, camped, fished, traveled, played and had an amazing time together. They later made a beautiful home for their two daughters, Vicki and Kathy, whom they shared their love and many adventures with.

Sandra was active in politics, was a member of the Women's Democratic Society and was involved in many community projects for the Ogden City School District. She loved animals of every kind, was a wonderful cook and an avid reader. She enjoyed shopping of every kind; gifts, clothes, housewares, jewelry and groceries.  She was the “coupon queen” before anyone knew what that meant.  Her home was filled with fun, laughter, family, friends, neighbors and animals. She loved to celebrate holidays, birthdays and plan fantastic weekend picnics and backyard gatherings where everyone was invited and included. She shared in spectacular Halloween and Easter parties with her special grandchildren and went on wonderful trips to the pacific coast, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii and had magical forest adventures with her husband and daughters.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Richard Raun of Ogden; daughter, Kathy Raun (Ray Fresquez) of Salt Lake City; brother, Rick Thomas of Clinton; nephews, Tom Sackett (Chris) of Ogden, Dale Thomas (Lia) of Hawaii and Shane Thomas of Hawaii;  special grandchildren,  Dominique Fresquez (Marlene) of  Salt Lake City, Khrisma Adderley (Ricky) of Salt Lake City, Marcellino Fresquez of Japan, Isaac Fresquez of Salt Lake City; her adored nephews and nieces and her fur babies, Nigel and Moogoo of Ogden.

Sandra was preceded in death by her grandmother, Frances Reid; parents, Edward and Melva Thomas; sister, Renee Hunter; nephew, Troy Sackett; cherished daughter, Vicki Quirk and her loyal, fluffy soul mate, Jake.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
