Sarah (Sally) Doreen Bufton Anderson

LAYTON a€" Sarah (Sally) Doreen Bufton Anderson, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2010.

Sally was born in Spanish Fork, Utah on September 28, 1925 to William H. Bufton and Catherine Phillips Bufton. She was raised in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She had many fond memories with her two younger brothers and her all boy cousins. She was the oldest child in her family.

Sally married her high school sweetheart, Lorin R. Anderson of Benjamin, UT, on August 19, 1944. She then followed her husband Lorin throughout the United States while he was in training during World War II. They were then separated for over a year while he went overseas. Lorin was the love of her life as they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 18, 1949. They were blessed with four children, 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest joy and she loved and cherished each one of them. Sally was a loving, kind and caring person with a genuine love for all of Heavenly Father''s children. She had a quick wit, sense of humor and was typically the life of the party. Sally was a tasty cook and enjoyed making all sorts of candy for the holidays. She also found great satisfaction in quilting, sewing and painting.

In 1956, Sally, her husband and children moved to Pomona, California where her husband Lorin later became a school principal for many years. In 1972, they moved to Alta Loma, California. They had many fond memories in California, but their greatest treasure was their eternal friends. In 1992, they moved to Layton, Utah where again they made friends that will last forever.

Sally was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a testimony of the gospel and a genuine love of the Savior. She served in the Primary as President, the Young Women''s organization and as Relief Society President twice. Her greatest love was visiting teaching as she enjoyed and cared deeply for her sisters. She also served as a visiting teaching supervisor for many years up until a year ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William Henry Bufton and John Donald Bufton and a great-granddaughter Cate Campbell.

She is survived by her husband, Lorin R. Anderson and her children Cheryl Lyn (John) McCormack; Catherine (Doug) Bull; Mark (Sandra) Anderson; Paul Anderson; 21 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their profound appreciation and gratitude to the staff and aides at Manor Care Health and Rehab and the wonderful staff at Inspiration Hospice for all their kind and loving care of our mother, wife and grandmother.
