Sarah Eleanor Craven
OGDEN a" Sarah Eleanor Craven died in Salt Lake City on Friday, October 9, 2009 of causes related to her health and age.
She was born October 29, 1931, the third child of Arnold and Amy Reynolds Mecham of Provo, Utah. She was raised and educated in Provo, graduating from Brigham Young University.
Eleanor met Charles Moore Craven and began building a romance that would last the eternities. On May 5, 1951 they were married in Provo, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holding various positions in the primary, young women and relief society. Her life of service and enjoyment also included the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Eleanor moved to Ogden in 1967 and has lived in the same home for 40 years where she enjoyed very special, lifelong friends and neighbors. These lasting friendships were founded on demonstrated acts of caring and sharing. Her home hobbies included gardening, decorating, entertaining, babysitting and visits with family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Moore Craven, and survived by her two sons Ralph M. Craven of Twin Falls, Idaho and David (Bonnie) Craven of Taylor, Utah. She has five grandchildren; Nick, Jeremy, Rachelle, Cari and Derek and five great grandchildren with another one on the way. Also surviving are her brother J.L. Mecham and sister Alice Watkins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15 at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Internment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Primary Children''s Medical Center.
