Sarah Jane Browning Holbrook passed peacefully on the morning of May 15, 2019 in her home in Layton, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born to Telford and Margaret Browning on January 19, 1951 in Welland, Ontario, Canada. She lived in Canada until age 13 when she and her mother and brother immigrated to the United States after the death of her father. They moved to Utah where she graduated from Provo High School and Brigham Young University.
In 1972 she met the love of her life, Ward Holbrook, and they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Over the next 47 years they had 5 children, 16 grandchildren with one more on the way, traveled the world, lived in Utah, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon and California, and she became a proud citizen of the United States. Sarah Jane was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she loved the gospel. She held many callings over her life and together with her husband was a temple worker in the San Diego and Los Angeles temples and served a 3-year service mission in San Diego.
Sarah Jane loved walking on the beach and collecting sea glass, reading, cooking, traveling with her husband, spending time with her dear friends, but most of all being with her family and doting on her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Ward, her children Emily (Trevor) Lewis of Lehi, Utah, Marna Holbrook of Provo, Utah, Amy (Justin) Robinson of Cedar Hills, Utah, Ted (Nicole) Holbrook of Portland, Oregon and Robert (Claire) Holbrook of Stevenson, Washington, her grandchildren and her sister-in-law Susan Browning of Layton, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Denis, and her grandson Christopher.
There will be a private family service and interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery on May 21, 2019. In lieu of flowers, Sarah Jane would want you to do something nice with your family.
