Scot David Wells was born to David Aaron Wells and Charlene Evalyn (McQueary) Wells on May 3, 1961, in Ogden, Utah. He passed away suddenly after a short illness on January 19, 2025, at the age of 63. Scot graduated from Roy High School in 1979 and attended Ricks College. He is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Vernon Royal Wells, Bessie Mae Hayball, Viv Albert McQueary, and Eve McQueary. Scot and Donna Neri were married in June 1991.
Scot is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Amber Shafer (Kenny), T. Jay Wells (Miriam), Dakota Wells (Baylee), and Chelsea Brennan (Monan); and his grandchildren, Cammeron, Adalee, Kali, Makayla, Brayden, Jaxon, AJ, Mia, Bella, Melody, Liam, Freya, Blakely,and his mother Charlene. He is also survived by his siblings, Trina Bouwhuis, Nick Wells (Barbara), and Chary Wells, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Scot worked for several years at the Tooele Army Depot with his brother Nick, where they helped clean and purify water on the depot. He later worked for West Point City, maintaining the cemetery, sewer system, parks, and culinary water. For over 15 years, Scot worked for the State Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired as a driver and later as a Vision Screening Specialist. In this role, he worked with school districts across the State of Utah and assisted the Moran Eye Center with vision screenings on Indian Reservations.
Scot loved camping, working on his CNC machine, caring for his chickens, and spending time with his grandchildren. Camping trips and backyard movie nights with his children and grandchildren were always special events. Regular family card and board games, where Scot’s humor brought everyone together, were cherished moments. Scot was known for his willingness to help others with vehicle repairs and DIY projects. A skilled carpenter, electrician, and plumber, he learned these trades through many projects with his father. Scot was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse. Friends may visit with family on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be held at West Point Cemetery.
