Scott Taylor Mulvey, age 52, passed away at home on February 12th, 2025, after a long battle of cancer. He was a beloved husband and father who loved to tease and joke at every turn.
Scott was born September 5, 1972, in Layton, Utah to Gary and Marilyn Mulvey, the fourth of seven children (Brian, Michelle, Stephen, Kevin, Colleen, Stacy). In 1992, Scott was called to serve in the Little Rock, Arkansas Mission.
A few years later he married his best friend, Jennifer Thornock, on August 22, 1998 in the Bountiful, Utah temple. Together they raised three wild boys, Johnathan (25) [Madison (23)], Jacob (22), and Noah (18). He loved taking his boys out fishing, looking for deer, and was on the continuous search for a point with his cherished bird dogs. He passed on his testimony of forever families, serving others, and smoking bbq.
Over the past three and a half years he endured 61 rounds of chemotherapy and other experimental treatments. He surpassed every expectation of his doctors and treated each extra minute as a blessing.
He and Jen, accompanied by their youngest son Noah, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. Scott caught a massive sturgeon in Idaho, visited the waters of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest chasing salmon and halibut, found pheasants with his dogs, and made lifelong connections with everyone who traveled with him.
Scott’s blood runs a special color of blue. He had the opportunity to be a true blue hero of BYU football and personally met the team and coaches. He attended countless games before his diagnosis and attended as many football, basketball, and baseball games as his health allowed. Scott cared about many things but nothing was more important than his family. He cared deeply for his wife Jen, and up until the last days he was still trying to provide for her. He taught his three boys how to enjoy and respect the outdoors but emphasized the importance of continuing knowledge every step along the way.
