Scott Clair Nelson

1956 ~ 2017

Our cherished, loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend Scott Clair Nelson, died May 15, 2017 after complications following heart surgery.

Born June 11, 1956 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Joyce and Paul Nelson.

Married Melanie Kawa (Kawaguchi) in Ogden Utah January 9, 1976. They had both a son and a daughter who were the light of his life.

Graduated from Ogden High School in 1974 and attended Weber State University where he worked on a structural engineering degree. Joined the US ARMY in 1974 where he earned the rank of Sergeant before leaving the service. Worked as a carpenter and warehouseman before accepting a position with the US Air Force at Hill AFB in 1976 as a civilian.  He worked many years with many wonderful people before retiring in 2011.

Scott’s kindness to humanity was felt by many. His gentle strength and calming influence will be greatly missed by those closest to him.

Survived by wife Melanie, his son Brandon (Megan), daughter Jessica (Jessie), and grandsons Tate Paul and Coy Scott, brothers Tom (Debbie), Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brent Anchorage, Alaska; Paul Jr., Seattle, Washington; Troy (Sherry), Plain City.

Preceded in death by his father Paul.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
