SEAN HALES CARNE
September 14, 1997 – February 6, 2018
Sean Hales Carne came into this world on September 14, 1997 at 2:05 PM, just in time for the Broncos game, to parents Paula Hales and Eric Carne. He was born in Denver, Colorado and weighed 6 lbs., 9 oz. and was 19 ½ inches long. On February 6, 2018 his sweet, beautiful soul left this world entirely too soon.
He was a miracle from the very beginning. He was born with two umbilical cords. One was wrapped around his neck and he would have died if not for the other cord. From the time he was a small child, everywhere they went people were drawn to him. Often times, for whatever reason he always walked away with some free gifts and prizes. At the young age four years old, he even made a cardboard sign and stood on a corner. Naturally, people gave him money, so he thought it was the way people got money.
In 2004, Sean moved to Woods Cross and later Bountiful, Utah with his parents and older brother Adam. Sean loved the outdoors. He enjoyed Jeep trips to Moab with his Uncle Ross and Aunt Pat. They always had to stop at the sand hill on the north side of Moab so he could run up the hill and see how far he could get. He was completely happy and in his element go-karting, 4-wheeling, riding motorcycles, boating with family and golfing with his dad and brother. He also enjoyed teasing his “momma” and getting a rise out of her. Sean could not wait to get his driver’s license, and when he did, his love of cars and driving only amplified.
Sean attended Woods Cross High School and graduated in 2016. Sean loved music and played the drums throughout his Jr. High and High School years. He liked to wear crazy socks and headbands to his band concerts, which fit his personality to a tee. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, video games and fitness in his spare time. After high school, Sean attended Weber State University.
Sean had an incredible personality, a witty sense of humor and a contagious smile. He has been described by some as the color yellow: vibrant, warm and bright. He had an endearing way of cocking his head to the side, giving you a half-grin and pushing a hand through his “ginger” hair that made you smile and love him even more. He would always chuckle when his young friend Dominick would call him “Seang.” He was fiercely loyal and protective of his true friends. He had an enormous heart and loved his family immensely.
This protective instinct surfaced this past Christmas while eating with his family at a restaurant. His mother began choking, and Sean immediately jumped in and successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver without a second thought, saving his “momma’s” life. That’s just what Sean did-- he took care of people he loved.
Sean is deeply loved by his family and will be missed more than words can ever express. Our hearts are broken and we wish we had more time with him, but we know Sean is at peace and wrapped in a big hug by the loved ones who went before him. It has been a great honor to know and love Sean. He faced some tough challenges in his brief life, but we will be grateful every day for the happiness he brought us.
Sean is preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Barbara Hales, his Aunt Patricia (Hales) Bartholomew and Uncle Ross Bartholomew. Sean is survived by his parents, Paula Hales and Eric Carne as well as two brothers, Adam Hales and Rory Carne, his grandparents Denise and Dan Carne, Aunt Tiffanie (Josh) Hein, Uncles Douglas (Viann) Hales and Richard (Teri) Hales, and numerous cousins and “homies”. He also leaves behind beloved dogs Maggie and Lucy.
