Sean Haggarty

Lance Corporal Sean T. Haggarty, USMC

August 22, 1994 ~ July 6, 2015

Beloved son and brother passed away on July 6, 2015. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Doris Haggarty. Sean was born three weeks early at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona to Sean and Kristine Haggarty and got his first helicopter ride on the same day. That started his life of thrill-seeking. In 1996, his parents got stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany where he spent the next six years of his life Volksmarching and exploring Europe. Then, in 2002, they all moved to Eden, Utah. He went to third grade at Valley Elementary, and then transferred to St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary for fourth through eighth grade. He went to Davinci Academy for ninth and tenth, then moved to Weber High School for 11 th and 12 th grades. All during high school, the marine recruiters would come to school and Sean would excel at their competitions. He was always bringing home t-shirts, water bottles and lanyards. He was so proud of himself.

He went through first communion and confirmation with Father Cummins, USMC at St. Florence church in Huntsville, UT. He enjoyed the alter serving and lecturing. Though his parents tried to convince him to follow their footsteps after graduation to go in the Air Force, he had his heart set on being a marine. In October of 2013, he did just that. He graduated Bootcamp onboard Marine Corp Recruiting Depot, San Diego on January 17, 2014 as part of the Killer Kilo, Flight 3222. He earned his Eagle Globe and Anchor and joined the elite brotherhood he knew he belonged to. He then went to Camp Pendleton to the Infantry Training Battalion, Echo Company and set his sights on earning the right to become an Assaultman. He accomplished that as well. He was stationed onboard Camp Pendleton at Camp Horno with the weapons the Weapons Platoon, Company B, 1 st Battalion, 1 st Marine, 1 st Marine Division. He prided himself on being the best Marine he could be. He looked forward to traveling the world. And he did go to Japan for Jungle Warfare Training on Okinawa and cold weather training on Mt. Fuji. Even through tough times, he tried to make the best of any given situation. He was always fierce competition with himself to set new standards. But I think that inspired those around him to be that much better. He had a big heart and would go out of his way to help those he could. He was an exceptional young man that made an impression on all who came into contact with him.

Some of his hobbies were Tae Kwon Do, Minecraft, Motorcycling, Computers, Engineering, and he loved his tattoos. He became intrigues with wrapping the intricate wires in the more elaborate e-cigarettes. He became so good, he started getting sponsorships from various Vape shops to build for them and compete.

He was the light of his mother’s life and a great source of pride for both his parents. He was truly a good son who made sure his parents knew he loved them as much as they loved him. He came in to this life early and never stopped. He was always on the go enjoying life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will be riding his motorcycle with the Angels and his Marine brethren, watching over his loved ones and waiting until they are with him again. SEMPER FI.

He is survived by his mother, Kristine, his father, Sean, his sister, Kasandra Davison, and his grandmother, Sandra Pennings.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
