Sevella Whetstone Beddes, 89, of Roy, Utah, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2008 surrounded by her family.
Sevella was born April 26, 1919 in Lovell, Wyoming to Hyrum Edward and Mary Minerva Jolley Whetstone. With the exception of two brief periods of living in Salt Lake City and Orem, Utah, Sevella grew up and graduated from high school in Lovell.
She married James Hyrum Beddes in 1938 in Basin, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. James and Sevella had four children: Russell J. Beddes, Lyle W. Beddes, Wayne T. Beddes and Carol J. Beddes. James preceded her in death on November 23, 1979.
Sevella was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a deep love and thorough knowledge of the gospel. She shared her love and knowledge with her posterity and faithfully served in many different callings.
Sevella worked as a retail clerk and bookkeeper for J.C. Penney for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Lovell, Rose City Senior Center for several years. She moved from Lovell to Roy in 1995 to be closer to her family.
She is survived by three of her children, Lyle (Carlene) Beddes of West Valley City, UT; Wayne (Gloria) Beddes of Clearfield, UT; Carol (Merlin) Reynolds, Roy, UT; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Roy 24th Ward Chapel, 5900 South 3100 West.
Friends and family may call at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, on Monday, December 22, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.
Her final resting place will be in Lovell, Wyoming.
