Shanze Raymond Panunzio

Shanze Raymond Panunzio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Heritage Park Care Center . He was born on May 25, 1922 in Ogden, Utah, to Biagio and Merceda Pettit Panunzio. He was raised in Ogden and attended the Weber School System.
He married Eva June Mascaro on October 12, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden, UT . They recently celebrated their 68 th Wedding Anniversary.
Shanze was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He honorably served in the Pacific Theater and Philippine Liberation during WWII. He was also a member of the D isabled American Veterans.
He retired after 35 dedicated years from Hill Air Force Base where he worked as a n aircraft mechanic. He was also a part time farmer.
Shanze enj oyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and going to Crystal Hot Springs . He loved his garden and loved sharing his harvest with friends, family, and neighbors. When arriving at the Pan u nzio home you were asked if you wanted a “shot of squeezin s ” and when leaving he would always say “slip around sometime ”.
Shanze is survived by his wife, Eva Panunzio ; sons, Billy (Linda) and Bobby (Susan); daughter, Carol Anne Hyer ; six grandchildren, Rob (Jessica), Alisha (Dennis), Darci (Eric), Cassie (Tom), Nicole (Tony), and Charlene; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mike; sisters, Mary, Vera, Angie, Irene , and his G erman S hepherd dog named Spike .
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd . Services will be officiated by Pastor Roy Gruber of Washington Heights Church . Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
