Sharlene Stone Calvin
May 14, 1944 – December 3, 2015
Sharlene Stone Calvin, age 71, passed away in her sleep Thursday, December 3, 2015, after a long battle with Amyloidosis.
She was born on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1944 in Preston, Idaho, to Merlin Porter Stone and Leota Corbridge.
An acclaimed “city girl,” Sharlene married a cowboy, Ronald “Duff” Noel Calvin, July 5, 1963 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They are the parents of five children: Leesa (Robert) Blakely, Roy; Cindy (Dan) Spens, Roy; Christy (Gary D.) Yardley, Roy; Cory (Mary) Calvin, Hooper; and Jason (Jamie) Calvin, Sunset. She has 20 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild (with two more on the way).
Sharlene was raised in South Ogden, graduated from Bonneville High School and attended BYU. She worked at Defense Depot Ogden, Hooper Country Store, Mount Ogden Middle School and Arrow Transportation.
Sharlene and her husband raised their children in Hooper. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Her favorite callings always involved music. Sharlene was raised in a musically talented family. She played the piano and organ and had a beautiful singing voice. In her later years, her mind struggled to remember many things, but she never forgot the words to the music she loved. Her greatest joy was her family. She adored her grandchildren and loved them to the moon and back.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years and her children, brothers Devon (Linda) Stone, Salt Lake City; Dr. Bruce C. (LouAnn) Stone, Bakersfield, California; and sister Lanae (Marc) Uhrey, Layton. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Ronald.
The family wishes to thank Lotus Park Assisted Living staff and residents for their kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Her family will meet with friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
