Sharm Christensen

July 22, 1927 — May 27, 2018

Sharm Christensen passed away peacefully into his Heavenly Father's care May 27, 2018 at the age of 90. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be truly missed until we reunite with him on the other side of the veil.

Born July 22, 1927 in Richfield, Utah to William and Celesta Christensen. He was raised in Richfield with his family of three brothers and two sisters. In 1945 he left his home and joined the US Navy serving his country in World War II where he was honorably discharged in 1948. He served on three U.S.S.  Naval carriers in the Pacific Theater, and received the World War II Victory Medal.  His Naval service and experiences in WWII created a lifelong interest in the history of this great nation, especially the WWII era. His study of this was extensive and he knew as much as any historian on the subject. He was a patriot and loved his country. After his military service he attended Utah State University where he was active in fraternity leadership and graduated with honors.

Sharm worked as a pharmaceutical representative for most of his professional life where he made many lifelong friendships. After retiring from the pharmaceutical business in 1988, he began his own small business Service Management Company, offering accounting services and condominium management to clients who became great friends.  He maintained this business into his late 80s, slowly moving into "retirement".  Sharm was an avid golfer his entire adult life. He was a long time member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club, and played courses all over the state. He served on the board of the Utah Golf Association for many years. Golf gave him many wonderful associations and friendships throughout his life. Sharm was a long time member and former president of the Ogden Exchange Club.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings including financial clerk for many years, utilizing his accounting and great organizational skills. He loved his family more than anything, and was a loyal friend to so many.

Sharm is survived by his wife of 48 years, and the love of his life, Diann, his three children, Jeff Christensen (Hannah), Greg Christensen (Susan), and Shellie Jensen (Todd). He has seven grandchildren who will miss him very much, Matthew, Danielle, Haylee, Stephanie, James, Christopher, and Trevor. He is survived by two brothers, Kenneth and David, and preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathy, two sisters, Sheila and Delores, and a brother Thord.

Private graveside services with full military honors will be held by the family at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Sharm was very civic minded, generous and active with many charities, one such was the Family Counseling Center of Ogden. At this time to honor him the family would ask you donate to a charity or give service to those who need. That is was what Sharm was about. We love and miss him!
