Sharon Aksamit

August 1, 1936 — April 2, 2018

Sharon Aksamit of Fruit Heights, Utah died on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the age of 81.  She was born in Shelley, Idaho to George Paul Stricklan and Mary Ada Hanson, on a summer Saturday, August 1, in 1936.

She began school in Woodville, Idaho and continued in school in that area until her family moved to Darlington, Idaho where her father bought a farm.  While suffering from rheumatic fever as a child, she read avidly, and remembered nearly all she read.  She was proud to have been valedictorian of her senior class at Butte County High School and was chosen as a representative to Girls State.

She married Kenneth Lee Aksamit in 1967 and had one daughter, Annemarie and grandchildren Bram Joseph, Eva Raquel, and Olivia Marie Quintus-Bosz.  They were the pinnacle of her life and she enjoyed their association through face-booked pictures, and phone conversations during which she built a loving and solid bond with them.

Among her many activities as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Primary President, and Stake Drama director where she directed 3-act plays to the delight of her audiences.  She studied psychology at BYU and in Littleton, Colorado being one class short of a degree.

She was employed at the University of Wyoming Book Store, where she ordered books, a job she enjoyed immensely.  She had worked at the Atomic Entergy Site in Idaho, for Rockwell International at Hill Air Force Base, Safe-Site Storage, and for the Davis County School District.

Sharon loved her neighbors and friends of all persuasions.  She loved her husband beyond measure; in their love they were inseparable.  She was of great service to her family and exhibited her love in kind and thoughtful deeds: sisters Mary Anne (Juel Aikele) and Evelyn Wirick, and brother, Dave Stricklan (Julie).

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mary Anne.
