Sharon Ames Gates

Our loving mother and grandmother Sharon Gates passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at the age of 71, at McKay Dee Hospital.

Sharon was born August 17, 1950, in St. Anthony, Idaho, a daughter of Darrel and Nola Ames. She graduated from Davis High School. She married James Donald Gates, June 12, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sharon was a wonderful wife and mother of three children.

Sharon had a zeal for life that was contagious. She loved fiercely and wasn’t afraid to stand for what she believed in. She was a kid at heart, always loving to be in the mix of the fun. She had a special way of making life magical. She was the perfect example of Christ-like love, charity, kindness, hard work and determination. To know her was to love her.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Don; and children Robert (Tauna) Gates; Bryon (Julie) Gates; Amy (Dustin) Rich; nine grandchildren, and brother Dennis (Maureen) Ames. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Darrel and Nola Ames, brothers Robert Darrel and Steven Leslie.

We are grateful for Sharon’s strong, fighting spirit and positive attitude. She was truly “one in a million” and will be greatly missed and remembered for so many wonderful reasons.
