LAYTON – Sharon Barber Higgs, 69, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at her home.
She was born September 15, 1944 in Ogden, Utah the daughter of Marvin Wallace and Ruby Ruth Hamblin Barber.
Sharon married Eugene Higgs on June 7, 1962 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the Layton Snow Creek Ward and had served as Young Women’s President, 1st Counselor in Relief Society and various leadership callings in the church.
Sharon was a volleyball champ and bowling champ for Layton City. She loved dancing, traveling and being with all of her grandchildren and children.
She liked teaching children to read and was a tutor for 19 years. Her favorite thing was spending time with her husband traveling.
Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, Eugene Higgs, Layton; sons, Michael Eugene (Sandy) Higgs, St. George; Steven Allan (Tracy) Higgs, Layton; Jeff (Connie) Higgs, Maui, Hawaii; daughter, Lisa Gene (Brian) George, St. George; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Keith and Allan Barber, Tremonton.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Barber.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
