Sharon Lynette Nebeker John

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Sharon Lynette Nebeker John, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2014. She was born on August 1, 1932 in Shoshone, Idaho to Golden H. and Elizabeth Bates Nebeker. She grew up on the family ranch in Idaho until her father passed away when she was 12. The family then moved to Layton, Utah and she graduated from Davis High School.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sharon married Robert Asael Farr and they were blessed with three sons before they divorced. She married Duane T. John in September 29, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Duane passed away in February 2014.
She worked at the Standard Examiner as an Executive Secretary for 35 years serving for eight different publishers and was a co-owner of DJ Nursery for 43 years.
Sharon loved bowling and enjoyed being on bowling leagues. She also enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz and golf.
Sharon is survived by her five sons, Jeffrey L. Farr, Asael D. Farr, Phillip (Wylie) Farr, Thomas A. John, and Fred John; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Joyce Wallace and Lucinda Love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three great-grandchildren, her parents, brothers, Gail, Kenneth, and Stanley Nebeker; and sisters, Betty Widmer and Donna Nebeker.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take your mom out to lunch.
