Sharon Paice Sarlo

April 26, 1943 ~ April 10, 2017

On April 10, 2017 our mom, grandma, sister and aunt, Sharon Paice Sarlo passed away unexpectedly at her home in Pleasant View. Mom is finally having that long anticipated reunion with her dad, Dwaine G Paice who passed away shortly after returning from the war when mom was only three years old. She is also with her mother Dona and all her friends and family that left this earthly life before her.

Mom was born April 26, 1943 in Ogden, Utah to Dwaine G Paice and Dona Parker Paice and was the eldest of two beautiful daughters. Mom was raised in Hooper and after the untimely passing of her father she was fortunate to live with her Mother, grandparents and many of her Aunts all in one little farmhouse. She grew very close with dozens of cousins and was surrounded by a large family sharing many good times. Her stories were endless and always fascinating although mom was known to embellish. She could tell a story like no other. She could take a two-minute story and customize it to her liking, adding and removing details that she felt made the story more dramatic or exciting. Her stories would become life-changing events and each time she told them they grew more fascinating and, would have additional details left out previously.

Mom graduated from Weber High School in 1961. In November 1963, Mom gave birth to a daughter, Jennifer. They lived together in Ogden until Mom married John William (Jack) Sarlo on August 11, 1966. Together they raised Jennifer and had two more beautiful children, Angie and Robert (Bob). They moved to Placerville, CA for a few years and then to Reno, NV until moving back to Utah in 1977. They loved living in Reno and made great friendship while there especially Mickey, Dale, Sharon, Bruce and Jeanie.

After moving to Utah, Mom worked for Iomega Corporation where she excelled in Management. She was the hardest working person we knew, very dedicated and had an exceptional work ethic. During her professional career she managed hundreds of people and traveled the world. She loved teaching people manufacturing excellence and was instrumental when Iomega won the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing in 1992. She taught all of us how important it was to work hard, be dedicated and follow through with whatever you do, for that we are so grateful.

Mom and dad made many wonderful friends after returning to Utah. Anne, Roger, Karen and Baily, for years they were always together, doing something crazy, going somewhere exotic or sitting around laughing for hours in the conversation pit at mom’s house. Although mom and dad divorced after 30 years of marriage they remained good friends until Jack’s passing in 2008.

After retiring she went to work part time for Walmart but her health started to deteriorate forcing her to leave, she worked briefly at Essurance but couldn’t hear, then Starbucks but couldn’t remember all the coffee selections. She went to work with her daughter at Lantern House as the donations coordinator; this would be her final calling.

Mom was a very social and outgoing person and made many friends everywhere she worked. Mom had a passion for hunting treasures. She was the Queen of thrift shopping and was a daily regular at the Desert Industries. She always found something she considered to be a prize. Sharing her stories every day and finding treasures for everyone she knew. She couldn’t wait to bring in the prior days treasures and tell everyone what she had found. She was always so excited to come to work and socialize and that is when she was the happiest.

Mom loved her family and especially her grandchildren and she had special relationship with each one.

Mom is survived by her children, Jeni (Ron), Angie, and Bob (Sandy); 12 grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jack, Quincey (Keith), Nate, Cameron, Chris, Braxton, Kiersten, Caden, Sam and Sophie; one sister, Marsha (Kurt) Fowers; two aunts, Marion Allen and Larae Ewing, many nieces and nephews and dozens of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwaine and Dona Paice, her grandparents, Raymond and Florence Paice and Vern and Reta Parker.

We would especially like to thank Ron Canter and the law enforcement officers that took special care and compassion when finding mom.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends and family are welcome to join us for a remembrance of Mom on Monday April 17, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Mom’s wishes were to be cremated with some of her ashes placed next to her mom and dad in West Point and spread over her favorite place in Callao Utah.
