Sharon Joy Bybee Ward

July 18, 1935 – June 14, 2017

In the early morning hours of June 14th, Sharon was cradled in the loving arms of her lord and savior and brought home for the final time.  She returned to her husband, Russell, who had been waiting, not very patiently, for their eternal reunion.

She was born in Ogden, UT to Robert Melvin Bybee and Laura Wauneva Hamre.  She was the eldest sibling of one sister, Janis F. Bryson, and three brothers, Neil, Lance, and James Bybee.

She spent the first nine years of her life living in Uintah, then her family moved to the mouth of Weber Canyon at the Utah Power and Light Company where her father worked.  She enjoyed many mishaps and adventures during her time there, but she especially loved riding her bike up and down the road in front of their home.

Sharon attended Uintah Elementary, a two-room schoolhouse, Burch Creek Elementary, Riverdale Jr. High, and Weber High School.

She wed Russell D. Ward on March 25, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They were later blessed with three children, Ron, Colleen, and Karen (Katie).  They were the best of sweethearts, for 60 years prior to his passing in September of 2015.

Sharon was a faithful member of the L.D.S. church and held many callings in honor her lord and savior.

She held several part-time jobs over the years, but her greatest joy and passion in life came from being a loving wife and mother.

Sharon and Dee would hop in their Dodge Ram and fifth-wheel trailer and travel extensively all across the country.  She enjoyed traveling with her sweetheart and taking photographs of the many beautiful places they visited.

Sharon possessed a gentle spirit, quick easy smile, and she could find humor in almost anything.  She loved comedy movies, especially the Pink Panther, butterflies, flowers, needlepoint, and crafting all manner of beautiful projects.

She never let Parkinson’s disease define her.  She forged ahead fearlessly with abandon, despite her profound physical challenges, without complaint.  She was the very essence of resilience and determination and faced every challenge with a positive attitude and a smile on her face.

She is survived by her children, Ronald D. Ward, Colleen J. Whitesell, and Karen (Katie) Gordon (DeWayne), all of her siblings, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fruit Heights Chapel 140 N Mountain Road, Fruit Heights.  Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N Main and Wednesday 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.
