Sharyl Burnett Moyes
May 30, 1936 ~ February 12, 2018
Sharyl Burnett Moyes faithfully finished her earthly mission and returned to her Father in Heaven on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 30, 1936 to Boyd and Velda Burnett in Ogden, Utah. She was in the first graduating class of Ben Lomond High School.
Sharyl married Dr. James Kirk Moyes on May 20, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They shared 51 wonderful years together until his passing in 2006.
Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She served as ward primary president, ward and stake relief society president, and matron of the Ogden LDS Temple. She served as laurel advisor and gospel doctrine instructor in recent years. Mom loved the many years she served as an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple. She cherished the friendships of those with whom she served. Mom and Dad completed a full-time mission in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Our mother enjoyed spending quality time with her family at Bear Lake. She loved her flowers and always had a well maintained yard and home. She had a talent for dipping chocolates and passed that yearly tradition on to her children and grandchildren. Family and many friends were recipients of her homemade birthday cards. Sharyl spent the last few years compiling photo albums that included her life history as a gift to her family. These will be treasured always.
She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and made each of them feel special.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Susan (Dennis) Green, West Haven; Dr. Brett K. (Shanna) Moyes, South Ogden; Quinn B. (Amy) Moyes, Layton; Darren W. (Chareyl) Moyes, Ogden; 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren with three on the way.
Sharyl was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Dr. J. Kirk Moyes; parents, Boyd and Velda Burnett; grandson, James Sterling Moyes; great-granddaughter, Jacie Ann Zaugg; brother, Arlyn Burnett; and sister, Lou Jean Young.
