Shelley Jean Parker Eddy

In healthier times, Shelley Jean Parker Eddy loved to hike. At age 62, on April 24, 2013, she left home and went around her final bend in mortality and on into eternity. She''d endured the devastations of peritoneal cancer and its treatments for the past 29 months. It was her second bout with cancer.

Born in Ogden, Utah, on St. Patrick''s Day, 1951, Shelley was a shamrock of daughter to Robert and Irene Parker. They raised her with love and devotion in Roy and Layton, Utah. She graduated from Davis High School and then obtained a Bachelor''s degree from Weber State University.

Shelley bestowed her four-leaf-clover luck on Walter R. Eddy, Jr. by marrying him August 6, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Shelley participated in and contributed mightily to her faith throughout her lifetime.

As a young couple, Shelley and Walt pursued careers together as civil servants, going down a trail doing so that took them to the cities of Rockford, Illinois, Concord, California, Twin Falls, Idaho, and Boise, Idaho, before returning to Utah. That''s where Shelley eventually retired from that work. As Shelley and Walt went along their trail, they were blessed with children. Amy was born in Utah. Mike came along when they lived in Twin Falls and Kiele and Brent were both born in Korea but first blessed the family in Boise.

During her lifetime, Shelley loved to read and to share in other interests introduced to her by her mother: sewing, quilting, traveling, playing family games, and raising a dog. She cooked scrumptious meals and provided the most pleasant company a person could want. She was soft-spoken, kind, and loving. Patient almost to a fault.

Children and grandchildren surviving her are her daughter, Amy Farnsworth (Steven) and their children, Hannah and Piper, all from West Jordan, Utah and sons Michael and Brent Eddy, and daughter Kiele Eddy, all living in Layton, Utah. Her brothers, Chris and Norman Parker, both of Layton, and a sister, Joy Spraycar, of Roy, Utah, also survive her, as does her husband, Walt Eddy.

Her parents preceded her in death.

We want to thank all of the health care providers, our extended family, and neighbors and friends for all their care, concern, and love in helping Shelley and us through her illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden.
