Shelly Owens Anderson

June 11, 1958 – July 10, 2017

On July 10, 2017, our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend left us to rejoin her family in the afterlife. This world will be a little less bright because she is gone. Shelly was a bright light in the lives of everyone she touched. Her loving spirit was always present when she was around. Shelly found her joy by loving her family with unconditional love. Her family, friends, children, and grandchildren never questioned the depth of her love. You could trust her to always be honest and genuine. She will be remembered for her willingness to laugh, her empathy for all living creatures, and devotion to family. Shelly spent most of her adult life working in sales in the grocery industry.

Shelly was born on June 11, 1958 to Robert David and Joyce Whetton Owens. She lived and went to school in northern Ogden. Her family moved to Riverdale in her sophomore year of high school, where she graduated from Bonneville High School in 1976. Shelly married Brent Harris in 1976. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1978. On November 28, 1984, she married Michael Harold Anderson. On that day, she became a mother to Mike’s two children, Kim and Jamie and then on February 22, 1987, Austin was born.

Her mother and father preceded Shelly in death. She is survived by her brother, David Jeffery Owens (Sue), her son, Austin Michael Anderson (Jaclyn), stepdaughters Kimberly Smith (Curtis), Jaime Ingram (Ryan) and grandchildren, Nick, Carly, Taylor, Ashleigh, Tristan, Hayes, Luke, and Brooklyn.

Funeral services will be held at Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Layton, UT.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  There will be no graveside service.
