Sherell Ray Powell

Sherell Ray Powell, age 92, returned home to his Father in Heaven March 13, 2023, at Creekside Assisted Living in Bountiful, Utah.  He was born March 14, 1930, in Kenilworth, Utah, the son of Sheridan Ray and Dortha Petrena (Albrechtsen) Powell. 

After high school he was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission covering parts of Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.  Following Sherell’s L.D.S. mission, he served with the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan, during the Korean Conflict.  He did his basic training at Fort Ord, California before being shipped overseas.  While in the military he served as part of the military police and later as the head of the motor pool dispatch. After the military he returned to Price, Utah, where he met and married Frances Crapo in the Manti, Utah, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple on June 23, 1954.  They celebrated their 67^th anniversary in June of 2022.

Fishing, snowmobiling, and cycling were some of Sherell’s favorite activities, but being with his children and grandchildren was one of his greatest joys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Sherell Keith Powell; brother Boyd Powell; and sisters Gladys Palmer, Beaulah Duncan, and Ilean Petersen. Survivors include his wife Frances, his daughters Celia Powell and Francelle Roush (Robert); and his son David (Jill).  Sherell is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jessica Sims (Josh), Ryan Roush (Vanessa), Michaelyn Howard (Drew), Danielle Wood (Kevin), Aaron Powell, Lindsay Thompson (Matt), Joshua Powell (Charlotte), Kaden Powell and Benjamin Powell.  He is survived by 15 great grandchildren: Everest, Grant, Beckham, Lincoln, Stella, Elliott, Marshall, Lydia, Addie, Andy, Penny, Luke, MacKenzie, Tucker and Lewis.

Visitation will be, March 18, 2023, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, Utah. Followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.  A luncheon will be held at the L.D.S. meeting house located at 2505 South Davis Boulevard, Bountiful, Utah, where family memories will be shared.
