I completed my mission and purpose for being on the earth, on September 1, 2014, and have moved on to the next phase of my eternal journey. I am so very grateful for all of those who have impacted my life, especially my dear family and choice loved ones.
On July 11, 1939, in Salina, Utah, I entered this life as the second child of my loving parents, Leo C. Murphy, and Lorna Belle Rasmussen Murphy. I was supported in life by my sister Marlene, and my brothers, Donnel and Buddy. I graduated from North Sevier High School in 1957, and attended Brigham Young University. Upon completion of my mission to the Western States, I married my sweetheart, Roylene Taylor, in the Salt Lake Temple on October 5, 1961. Roylene preceded me in death on August 12, 2002.
We were blessed with five beautiful children, Marceen (Jeff) Porter, Monde (Lorie) Murphy, Matt (Patty) Murphy, Marla (Jason) Snyder, and Mark (Natalie) Murphy. Cinda (John) Rosenwinkel came to us from the Navajo reservation and became part of our family.
My life led me from Salina to Provo to Salt Lake City, and then to Layton, where I resided for 39 years. Hercules Aerospace Inc. (ATK) employed me for 37 years. I enjoyed the pleasure of my family and friends. I was both a BYU and Jazz fan. My hobbies were fishing and gardening. I loved the fruits of my garden and was especially fond of fresh picked cantaloupe. I enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, family camping, boating, river rafting, back packing, or just enjoying being in the mountains. I also loved volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
I was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved serving in many different callings. I came to love the Savior and strived to follow Him. In my later years, I found much joy serving as a Temple Ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple.
A second wonderful lady came into my life. I married Karyl Faulkner on August 23, 2003. We resided in Syracuse, and had a wonderful and happy life together.
I was preceded in death by my dear wife Roylene, my parents, and a granddaughter, Jordain Murphy. My dear wife Karyl, my children, and 18 grandchildren survive me. I want each of them to know of the great love I have for them and look forward to a glorious reunion in heaven with each of them.
Our thanks to Dr. Vincent Hansen, Ogden Hematology and Oncology, also Debbie and Shellie from Horizon Hospice and all others who served him in anyway.
