Sherill Douglas Venstra

Sherill Douglas Venstra, 78, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at McKay-Dee Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 5, 1936 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of William Vester and Edith Simpson Douglas. She lived her entire life in Hooper.

On April 5, 1957, Sherill married Edward G. Venstra in Hooper. She worked until they started a family then she dedicated her life to nurturing her husband and children. She always had a beautiful smile right until the end.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served faithfully in many callings.

She was a wonderful cook. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved dancing and stage shows. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and soap operas.

Sherill is survived by her husband, Ed; two children, Vicky Venstra Haltom, Scott Douglas (Laura) Venstra; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Delene Douglas (Floyd) Wiedmeir, and Donna (Steve) Matthews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Boyd Kent Douglas.

The family sincerely wishes to thank Lisa, Tanya, Hailey and Alitcha from Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional and loving care of Sherill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 22nd at the Hooper Homestead Ward, 5375 South 5900 West. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
