Sherry D. Black
OGDEN – Sherry Davis Black, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 surrounded by loved ones in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was born December 15, 1935 in Logan, Utah, to Russell and Jessie Larsen Davis. She grew up in Ogden where she met and later married Joseph William Black on May 29, 1952 in Clearfield, Utah.
Joe and Sherry raised their six children in Henderson and Las Vegas Nevada, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sherry worked for the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque as a nurse for 15 years.
After retiring, Sherry and Joe moved to Quartz Cite, Arizona and later to Ogden.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her children and their spouses, Suzanne (Chris) Cavan, Lenny (Kathie) Black, Julie (Lyle) Hill, Kelly (Jeff) Stringer, Jeanette (Tim) March, Nellee (Tristan) Thompson. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Sherry was preceded in death to heaven by her parents, her brother, Ray Davis, and her granddaughter, Carlyn Stringer.
Sherry was a gentle, kind person who served other people her whole life. She was precious to her family and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 4th Ward Chapel, 850 East 5600 South.
Friends may call at the Ward Chapel on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
