SHIRENE GIBBONS

October 23, 1968 ~ September 29, 2021

Shirene Gibbons passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 29, 2021, at the age of 52, after her lifelong battle with Type 1 diabetes. Born October 23, 1968, in Ogden Utah to Stephen Louis and Ilene (Arbon) Gibbons.

Shirene grew up with her parents and siblings in California, Washington, Idaho, Kenya (Africa) and Utah.  In her early years, Shirene enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, and spending time with family and good friends.

She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1987 and went on to become a nurse.  Shirene touched the lives of many co-workers and patients as she worked in the assisted and skilled nursing field. She was passionate about nursing, and it was a critical part of her life that defined her in many ways.  Her nursing skills helped bring relief and comfort to her mother, as her mother’s health failed.

Shirene’s greatest joy was her family and spending time with her family.  She was always available to lend a listening ear and extend words of comfort to her parents, siblings, and good friends. She loved giving gifts and seeing the joy that people received from those gifts. She was ever thoughtful of others and wanting to help.  Shirene loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, anything from traveling across the country for a visit, to birthday parties, graduations, and piano concerts.  She also enjoyed going on long drives with her parents and spending time shopping with her mother and good friends.

Shirene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life.

Shirene is survived by her father Stephen Louis Gibbons and siblings Shawn (Kerry) Gibbons, Shayne (Nanette) Gibbons, Shennon (Eric) Mercer, Shalynn (Jason) Doran, and her nineteen nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her mother Ilene Gibbons, grandparents and one nephew.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 6. 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 S. 2000 W., Syracuse. Friends may visit family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.  Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Hyde Park Cemetery.
